Case Summary

Allegations

This case centres on a pharmacist who was the Superintendent Pharmacist (SI) and at times the Responsible Pharmacist (RP) of Instant E-Care Ltd, an online pharmacy operating from 2015 to 2021. The registrant oversaw a remote prescribing service that fundamentally failed to meet safety, clinical, and regulatory standards. Allegations include allowing repeated, unmonitored prescriptions of high-risk and off-label medicines via an online questionnaire model with little or no patient contact or GP involvement.

Prescribers issued medications such as dihydrocodeine, Zopiclone, Cyclizine, Levothyroxine, Clomid, Metformin, Carbamazepine, and emergency contraceptives without obtaining sufficient medical history, assessing for risks of dependency, or verifying the identity of patients. In numerous cases, patients with histories of substance misuse, mental illness, or suicidal ideation were issued repeat prescriptions without proper checks.
