Pharmacy Technician Struck Off After “Mong” Bullying and Refusing to Engage with GPhC

This case concerned discriminatory and bullying conduct by a registered pharmacy technician towards a colleague in the workplace. The allegation ultimately found proved was that the registrant had, on one or more occasions, referred to an autistic colleague using the derogatory term “mong”. The conduct was characterised by the GPhC as both discriminatory and bullying in nature.

The case had a substantial regulatory history before the final review hearing on 2 September 2026. At the Principal Hearing, which took place between 27 and 29 October 2025, the Fitness to Practise Committee heard oral evidence from the colleague concerned and considered earlier written responses provided by the registrant. The registrant denied recalling that he had used the term and questioned parts of the colleague’s account. He suggested that the relationship between them had deteriorated following a separate workplace incident. Nevertheless, the Principal Hearing Committee accepted the relevant evidence and found the allegation proved.
