Pharmacist Cleared to Practise Following Suspension for Unsafe Online Prescribing Model

Date of Decision: April 28, 2025

Allegations: Approved or prescribed over 36,000 prescriptions for high-risk or monitoring-dependent medicines via UK Meds’ online platform, relying solely on online questionnaires. Failed to perform adequate clinical assessments, access GP records, or request face-to-face consultations. Oversaw the dispensing of nearly 55,000 prescriptions at his pharmacy without sufficient due diligence or risk assessment. Entered into a commercial arrangement with UK Meds despite knowing their prescribing model lacked UK regulatory oversight.

Outcome: No further order. Suspension expired with no ongoing impairment.

Pharmacist Issued Warning for Unsafe Dispensing Linked to Online Prescribing Platform

Date of Decision: April 28, 2025

Allegations: Dispensed high-risk and prescription-only medicines based on online questionnaires alone, without proper clinical safeguards. Allegations: A series of Controlled Drug (CD) recording and dispensing errors over a three-month period, including supply under expired prescriptions, incorrect CD balances, and failure to record key CD data. Aggressive behaviour towards a pharmacy manager. Working without a supervisor or completing CPD as directed by the GPhC in prior fitness to practise decisions. Failure to comply with multiple sets of previously imposed conditions, including non-submission of training, supervision, and development records.

Pharmacy Technician Removed from Register After Conviction for £75,000 Public Sector Fraud

Date of Decision: August 3, 2020

Allegations: Convicted of dishonestly making a false representation to make a gain for self/another or cause loss to others/expose others to risk. Fraud involved obtaining around £75,000 in accommodation and support from a public sector organisation under false pretences. Misled authorities, fabricated stories, and showed no evidence of remorse or remediation.

Pharmacist Suspended for Two Months After Falsifying Staff Training Records

Date of Decision: October 5, 2020

Allegations: Falsified colleagues’ signatures on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to make it appear that staff had been trained. Backdated the false entries to create an illusion of compliance over time. Delayed admitting to the misconduct until after internal investigation pressure. Breached trust, endangered public safety, and misled both colleagues and the public.

Pharmacist Restored to Register After Conviction for Serious VAT Fraud and Prison Sentence

Date of Decision: December 21, 2020

Allegations: Convicted of VAT fraud exceeding £1.8 million involving falsified invoices, fabricated export records, and dishonest representations to HMRC. Played an active role in creating false documents and knowingly submitted fraudulent claims, despite warnings from accountants.
