Pharmacy Technician Suspended After Inappropriate Physical Contact with 17-Year-Old Staff Member During Car Journey

Date of Decision: September 10, 2025

Allegations: On 12 March 2021, the registrant drove a 17-year-old female employee from the pharmacy to a nearby car park; while inside the vehicle the registrant intentionally: (1) held her hand; (2) kissed her hand while holding it; (3) stroked her hair; (4) hugged her; (5) kissed her head, from forehead down to her cheek; and (6) attempted to wipe her tears off her cheeks. That the registrant’s actions were inappropriate. That the registrant’s actions were sexual in nature. That the registrant’s actions were sexually motivated.

Outcome: Suspension for 4 months, with an interim suspension imposed until the decision takes effect; a review is directed before expiry of the suspension.

Pharmacist’s Suspension Lifted After Failing to Disclose Business Interests While Employed as Practice-Based Pharmacist

Date of Decision: January 28, 2019

Allegations: Failure to declare a financial interest in a distance selling pharmacy while employed as a practice-based pharmacist. Attempting to divert prescriptions to her own pharmacy for personal gain. Delivering medication to a patient on behalf of her own pharmacy while employed elsewhere. Offering financial incentives to a colleague to forward prescriptions to her pharmacy. Acting without integrity and failing to uphold professional responsibilities. Making misleading statements about the reason for leaving a previous employer.

Outcome: Suspension lifted; registrant deemed no longer impaired and permitted to return to unrestricted practice.

Repeated Dispensing Failures and CDs Mismanagement Lead to Suspension of Superintendent Pharmacist and RP

Date of Decision: September 12, 2025

Allegations: Multiple inappropriate supplies of Schedule 2 Controlled Drugs without valid prescriptions Falsification of the Patient Medication Record (PMR) to record false “owed” medication entries Incorrect records indicating emergency supplies where none were authorised or lawful Dishonest claims regarding Responsible Pharmacist status on days absent from the pharmacy Inappropriate delegation of duties to unregistered staff Failure to supervise or correct unsafe practices of another pharmacist Repeated unsafe supplies of medicines, including methadone and diazepam Misleading inspectors and investigators during pharmacy visits Acting dishonestly and without integrity

Pharmacy Technician Reinstated After Suspension for Dry Cleaning Business Dishonesty

Date of Decision: February 28, 2019

Allegations: Dishonestly claimed paid and unpaid carer's leave while working at her husband's dry-cleaning business. Dishonestly claimed sick leave while again working at the dry-cleaning shop. Intended to mislead her employer (the Trust) regarding the true circumstances of her absences.

Outcome: Suspension allowed to expire; registrant's fitness to practise no longer impaired.

Pharmacist Suspended for Cocaine and Cannabis Use Amid GPhC Investigation

Date of Decision: February 5, 2019

Allegations: Consumption of cocaine, a Class A controlled drug, between mid-March 2017 and mid-June 2017. Consumption of cannabis, a Class B controlled drug, between December 2017 and July 2018. Suffering from a health condition, the nature of which is outlined in a private schedule.

Outcome: Suspension for 5 months with a review hearing required.

Superintendent Pharmacist Suspended for Practising Without Indemnity Insurance for Nearly Four Years

Date of Decision: October 10, 2019

Allegations: Failed to ensure appropriate professional indemnity insurance (PII) was in place from 1 May 2013 to 16 February 2017. Made four annual declarations to the GPhC falsely confirming he had PII. Misled the GPhC by stating he had insurance when he did not. Acted without integrity in failing to confirm or secure PII while practising as a superintendent pharmacist.

Outcome: Six-month suspension from the register.

Warning Issued for Pharmacist Over Excessive Codeine and Phenergan Orders Without Oversight

Date of Decision: September 11, 2025

Allegations: Excessive and unaccounted ordering of Codeine Linctus and Phenergan Elixir. Failure to maintain oversight of pharmacy systems related to stock ordering and medication safety. Breaches in secure storage of dispensed medication and patient information. Improper maintenance of controlled drug records. Inaccurate responsible pharmacist log. Inappropriate use of NHS Smartcards by staff.

Outcome: Warning issued and published on the register for 12 months.

Pharmacist Suspension Expires after Illegally Accessing Colleague’s Medical Records and Making Inappropriate Comments

Date of Decision: September 11, 2025

Allegations: On 17 February 2022, the registrant accessed a colleague's medical records via Evolve without consent or clinical justification. The registrant used sensitive information obtained from those records to make inappropriate and offensive comments to the colleague, causing distress.

Outcome: Suspension Order (3 months) – Fitness to Practise Found No Longer Impaired; Suspension to Expire Without Further Action

Locum Pharmacist Removed from GPhC Register After Stealing and Injecting Midazolam at Work

Date of Decision: September 4, 2025

Allegations: Removed a quantity of Midazolam from the pharmacy without legal authority, prescription, or payment. Injected Midazolam into his own body while on duty. Acted dishonestly in taking the Midazolam without permission or authority. Practised as a pharmacist while unfit due to drug use. Had underlying medical conditions relevant to fitness to practise.

Outcome: Removal from the register
