Case Summary

Allegations

The case against the registrant centred on serious failings in his management of an online pharmacy, Pronto Healthcare, which operated between October 2018 and April 2021. Initially serving as the director and later as the superintendent pharmacist, the registrant oversaw a high-risk, distance-selling business model. The pharmacy primarily supplied opioid analgesics and sedatives—controlled medicines known for their potential for abuse—based on online questionnaires without any face-to-face consultations.

The allegations arose following a GPhC inspection prompted by concerns over inappropriate supply to a patient. The inspection revealed multiple breaches, including insufficient identity checks, failure to audit refused or cancelled medication orders, and allowing patients to self-select medication and modify consultation responses with no audit trail. Critically, the registrant engaged EU-based prescribers unregulated by the GMC or CQC, who prescribed without access to full medical histories, GP communication, or adequate justification—violating core GMC and GPhC guidance.
