Pharmacist Suspended After Third Drink-Driving Conviction Despite Extensive Remediation Efforts

This case concerns a pharmacist who was convicted of drink driving for the third time, raising serious concerns about professional conduct and public trust. On 21 October 2023, the registrant drove a vehicle while significantly over the legal alcohol limit. Members of the public reported erratic driving, prompting police intervention. A roadside breath test revealed 69 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, nearly double the legal limit. A later evidential test confirmed 55 microgrammes.

The incident escalated when the registrant resisted police officers, locking himself in his vehicle and requiring officers to forcibly gain entry. He was subsequently arrested and later convicted.
