Pharmacy Technician Struck Off After Cocaine Misconduct and Class A Drug Conviction

This GPhC principal review hearing concerned a pharmacy technician whose fitness to practise had previously been found impaired following misconduct involving cocaine use and a criminal conviction for possession of a Class A drug. The allegations arose from events while the registrant was employed at St Pancras Hospital. The original findings, all proved, were that the registrant attended the Trust while under the influence of cocaine, used cocaine on Trust premises, and was later convicted at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court for possessing cocaine on 10 May 2023.

For pharmacy professionals, the clinical and procedural significance is clear: pharmacy technicians work in environments where accuracy, vigilance, medicines governance, and public trust are essential. Cocaine is a Class A controlled drug, and being under its influence in a healthcare setting raises serious concerns about judgement, reliability, patient safety, and professional integrity.
